Frantic Planning...The Initial Thoughts of the Newly Engaged

Once the question has been popped, a girl's mind will start reeling...I need to call Mom, when should we get married, who's going to be in the wedding, where are we going to get married, where are we going to live, when should I buy my dress, what kind of wedding do I (I mean "we") want...and the list could go on and on. This overwhelming feeling that newly engaged girls automatically sense can cause what I like to call "frantic planning". The bride-to-be may jump from one aspect of her special day to another. Without thinking about a reasonable progression of planning, this once in a lifetime event may become more of a stress than the joyous occasion it should be. It's important for the couple to take a breath and enjoy the moment they are currently in, because believe me, it all flies by!

First things first, SAY YES! Your potential fiancé has gone through a lot of trouble, sweat a lot of bullets, and more than likely, spent a fortune on the ring in front of you. This is HIS big moment. Don't overshadow it with the stress of planning your entire wedding right off the bat. Savor the moment as a couple. Celebrate the milestone rather than jumping the gun and causing yourself more stress than necessary. He deserves the recognition from you that he did "good". Make the appropriate phone calls and announcements of the good news. Take some time to commemorate the occasion with your family and friends. And most importantly, don't be like me and forget this...write down what you can remember about the moment. I wish I had taken the time to write down what my husband had said to me, because let me tell you, I haven't heard him utter words like it since :)

Let us know about your initial feelings after he popped the question. Share your engagement story with us in the comments below. We can't wait to hear from you soon!
